Who We Are
Mary Boushie, Founder
The roots of the company trace back to 2004. Love of cats had always been a part of Mary's life, but once settled in Ponte Vedra, she was able to realize a dream to rescue abandoned and unwanted felines. Initially, Mary joined a community-based rescue group and became its foster mother for the kittens. As the need for her assistance was never ending, Mary created Mary's Rescues. As her reputation for rescuing felines grew, she expanded the program and in January 2008, Katz 4 Keeps Inc., a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization was formally established. From there, other men and women who love cats joined her and the organization grew to the premier facility it is today.
Penny is Mary Boushie’s second in command at Katz 4 Keeps. Penny assists Mary in every aspect of the facility including operations, organization, adoptions, volunteers and feline care.
Sandy is Katz 4 Keeps on-site veterinary technician. She holds an associates degree in Veterinary Technology and has 15 years clinical experience in small animal practices. Sandy is responsible for the healthcare of the feline residents including initial physical exams, testing for parasites and disease, and the vaccination protocol.
Cathy coordinates the Socializers, the "Love ‘Em Up Bunch", the Katz 4 Keeps Socializers. She provides orientation, and learning experiences through mentoring the Socializers. Cathy manages the group's schedule so that all Katz 4 Keeps felines required socialization. She also coordinates with the Socializers and their schools to ensure they receive the community service credits they require.
Valle is the main contact for all maintence and repairs at the facility. Valle assists Mary in strategizing the proper operation of equipment, design and construction of the facility and coordinating emergency procedures such as hurricane evacuations.
Katz 4 Keeps couldn't provide the excellent health care of the rescues without our dedicated veterinary partner.
